Atzinger awarded McKnight Fellowship
MONDAY, MAY 14, 2012 — Associate Professor of Music Christopher Atzinger recently received a $25,000 McKnight Fellowship for Performing Artists that will support two new recordings as well as tours in the U.S. and abroad.


Minnesota Academy of Science honors student's research
FRIDAY, MAY 11, 2012 — Psychology student Caroline Groth '12 took top honors for a research poster she recently presented at the Minnesota Academy of Science's Winchell Undergraduate Research Symposium. She also presented her research at the highly selective Society for Personality and Social Psychology Conference earlier this year.


Students earn State Department scholarship
WEDNESDAY, MAY 9, 2012 — This summer Josie Boyle '12 will travel to Russia and Esme Marie '14 to Tunisia as part of the U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship Program, which sends American students to intensive language institutes around the globe.


Kleckner earns NCAA's Elite 89 honor
TUESDAY, MAY 8, 2012 — Vanessa Kleckner '12 is the recipient of the Elite 89 award for the 2012 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships. Kleckner, a double major in biology and mathematics with a concentration in biomedical studies, currently carries a 3.98 GPA. 


Pioneer Press features St. Olaf's 'boxing philosopher'
MONDAY, MAY 7, 2012 — The St. Paul Pioneer Press begins its profile of St. Olaf faculty member Gordon Marino with two "surprising" facts: 1) the Wall Street Journal has a boxing writer and 2) he's a philosophy professor at St. Olaf. WEDNESDAY, MAY 2, 2012 — Kateri Salk '12 recently received a three-year Graduate Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation, a prestigious award that she will use to continue her work in aquatic environmental studies.

Students showcase theatrical talent at conferences
MONDAY, APR 30, 2012 — Ben Golden '12, Libby Porter '13, and Ben Olsen '13 showcased their theater design work at the regional United States Institute for Theatre Technology conference and earned scholarships to attend the national conference, while Ryan Evans '12 was one of three undergraduate students invited to showcase their work at the Mid-America Theatre Conference.


St. Olaf names new college pastor
FRIDAY, APR 27, 2012 — St. Olaf President David R. Anderson '74 has announced that Matthew Marohl has been called to serve as college pastor. Anderson says Marohl is a "gifted preacher, an inquiring intellect who welcomes the diversity of religious expression, and an experienced spiritual guide."


Bringing health care to rural Honduras
THURSDAY, APR 26, 2012 — St. Olaf students are already making plans to return to Honduras next year following the success of the first Ole Global Medical Brigade, which provided health care to nearly 400 people in one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere.


Two students awarded Goldwater Scholarships
WEDNESDAY, APR 25, 2012 — Benjamin Keisling '13 and Sarah Ludwig '13 each earned a prestigious Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship for the 2012–13 academic year. They are among the 31 St. Olaf students who have been awarded the scholarship since 1995.

MONDAY, APR 2, 2012 — The St. Olaf Rube Goldberg team took first place at the 2012 National Rube Goldberg competition hosted by Purdue University. The win gives St. Olaf two first-place performances plus a second-place finish since first competing in 2009.
